Towson, Md. (February 15, 2020) – The Mount St. Mary's bowling team went a perfect 5-0 in Saturday's traditional play, pacing the field in qualifying with a 150-pin gap to second place Sacred Heart. The Mount will have the No. 1 seed entering championship Sunday.
Four Mountaineers averaged over 190 on the day, with Sophomore
Ashley Santos going 853 for four games and a 213.25 average
. Sophomore Barbara Hawes went 847 for four games for a 211.75 average. Both Santos and Hawes will be recognized
on the first All-Tournament team tomorrow. Sophomores
Danielle Milo (968 total, 193.6 average) and
Tamera Stanton (959 total, 191.8 average) also helped the scoring pace for MSM

#14 Mount: 880 | Kutztown: 820
Conditions were tight on fresh once again as the Mount grinded out an 880-820 win over Kutztown to start off traditional play 1-0. Milo led all scorers with a 226 game.
#14 Mount: 969 | Coppin State: 801
The Mount overcame a slow start and pulled out a 969 set with a strong back half. Sophomore Amanda Yeung shot the highest game of the day for MSM with a 259 game.
#14 Mount: 1,010 | #13 Sacred Heart: 1,006
In a 2019 Northeast Conference Championship rematch, the Mount came out victorious in a close and exhilarating four pin advantage over the Pioneers. It came down to the very last frame of the match with Stanton recording a single pin spare and strike in the tenth to secure the win.
#14 Mount: 1,071 | Mount Aloysius: 890
The Mount shot the highest set of the entire tournament in a dominating 1,071 – 890 win over Mount Aloysius. Hawes had the front eight strikes before a single pin spare in the ninth and a pocket 7-10 split in the tenth resulted in a 256 game.
#14 Mount: 949 | Virginia State: 800
The Mountaineers completed a perfect 5-0 day with a convincing win over Virginia State. Santos and Hawes both powered the scoring effort for MSM with identical 223 games.
The Mountaineers will now head into championship Sunday as the No. 1 overall seed and will have a rematch with the No. 2 seed Sacred Heart in the opening round of match play. The winner will receive a bye into the championship round while the loser will play the winner of Duquesne and Howard for a chance to get back into the championship finals. Competition will begin at 10:00 AM and can be streamed live on the team's Facebook page.
