EMMITSBURG, Md. (Feb. 13, 2020) - Mount St. Mary's bowling heads to their penultimate regular season tournament for the 2019-2020 season when they challenge a large field at the James Brown Invitational, hosted by Morgan State University. 

SETTING THE SCENE

The Mount won one day of a split tournament format at Molloy College's Bowl for the Cure two weeks ago. They went 4-1 and finished with games of 1,041 and 1,006 to win Saturday's individual games. A win on Sunday was also within reach, but a 796 showing in the last frames of the weekend prevented that opportunity. Danielle Milo earned All-Tournament honors for her efforts Sunday, as did Tamera Stanton for her efforts Saturday. 

Last season, Mount went 8-4 at James Brown, edging out some close wins, but ended the weekend in ninth place. 

For this campaign the Mountaineers sit at No. 14 in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) ranking and have compiled a record of 59-30. 

FORMAT

The James Brown Invitational follows the usual format for a weekend bowling tournament. Events begin Friday with five rounds of Baker matches starting at 10 a.m., followed by five traditional rounds at 10 a.m. Saturday. Baker bracket play kicks off Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with winners moving on in a best-of-seven. An awards ceremony commences at the conclusion of the event. 

THE FIELD

Including the Mountaineers and host Morgan State, 16 teams will take part. Sacred Heart is the only Northeast Conference (NEC) school other than Mount in attendance. Fellow Maryland schools Bowie State and Coppin State, along with Howard in D.C., will also compete. 

LOOKING AHEAD

Mount's final tournament in the regular season will be the third NEC meet. The team stands in fifth and will be looking to clinch a berth in the conference tournament.
