Mount St. Mary's Bowling Eyes Second Straight Win at Molloy's Bowl for the Cure

BOWLING FOR THE CURE
Saturday, February 1 - Sunday, February 2
Douglassville, Pa. | Jay Lanes

EMMITSBURG, Md. (Jan. 31, 2020) - Fresh off their first-ever 11-0 weekend and second-ever tournament win, the Mount St. Mary's bowling team heads back into Pennsylvania for this weekend's Bowling for the Cure, hosted by Molloy College.

SETTING THE SCENE

Bolstered by the performances by Barbara Hawes and Amanda Yeung, the Mount went undefeated at the Red Flash Invitational in Altoona a week ago. This included three victories against No. 9 Youngstown State, the last of which led to the championship match, where the Mountaineers defeated host Saint Francis U in a climatic seven game bracket win.

Hawes was named MVP of the tournament after posting an average of 203.4 during Saturday's individual games. Yeung helped seal the victory with a Baker average of 23.50 on the final day.

FORMAT

This weekend features two days of competition, separated into a pair of tournaments. The first day consists of five individual games starting at 12:55 p.m. and the second day consists of five Baker games with an 8:55 a.m. start time.

THE FIELD

Along with Mount St. Mary's and host Molloy, eight additional teams will join to make up the 10 team field. Included in that list is Wilmington, who defeated the Mount in an earlier championship match, and Kutztown, who the Mountaineers have not faced this season.

LOOKING AHEAD

This is the first of three meets in February. Next up for the Mount is the James Brown Invitational in two weeks, hosted by Morgan State.
