ALTOONA, Pa. (Jan. 26, 2020) - It came down to a winner-take-all scenario, but the Mount St. Mary's bowling team prevailed over host Saint Francis U to win the Red Flash Invitational. The victory is their first for the 2019-2020 season, and second in program history. Mount went 11-0 over the three day tournament, which is also a first for the program.
Freshman Amanda Yeung led the charge on Sunday, posting a Baker average of 23.50. Sophomore Tamera Stanton also finished in the 20's with a 21.36.

For the third consecutive day, the Mountaineers were challenged by the Penguins to begin play. After capturing the first game 182-173, they succumbed to strong scores of 235 and 233 by Youngstown. Mount rebounded with a 232 of their own to level the match, then stormed to the championship match with victories of 203-169 and 173-161.
The triumph was Mount's 50th win of the year.

Challenged by their Northeast Conference foes for the title, the Mount picked up with the Red Flash right where they left off with the Penguins, rolling a 220 for a decisive 40 pin win. Saint Francis stayed consistent with a 181 while Mount endured a setback with a 162.
The teams battled back and forth, with Mount gaining the upper hand over for Saint Francis to rally. The Mountaineers' best 10 frames came in the third game with a 241, which was followed by a 220 in game five. But the Red Flash fought through to take games four and six to force the seventh and deciding game. Mount rose to the occasion to post a 191 over a 146 by Saint Francis to take the title.
For the Mountaineers, it is their first tournament win since their first-ever competition, when they won the 2018 Bud Whitman Invitational.
Mount St. Mary's will now focus on Molloy College's Bowl for the Cure, occurring next weekend (Feb. 1-2) in Reading, Pa.
