Bowling Undefeated after Day One of Red Flash Invite, Defeat #10 Youngstown State

ALTOONA, Pa. (January 24, 2020) The No. 13 nationally ranked Mount St. Mary's bowling team is off to a perfect 4-0 start at the Red Flash Invitational at Holiday Bowl in Altoona, Pa. The Mountaineers picked up wins over No. 10 nationally ranked Youngstown State, Morgan State, Penn State-Altoona and Felician.

Sophomore Danielle Milo led the way for the Mountaineers with a 19.84 baker frame average. Sophomore Tamera Stanton also contributed nicely in the anchor position with an 18.59 baker frame average. Sophomore Kayla Durbala came in off the bench in the final two matches and posted a baker frame average of 18.20.

#13 Mount: 882 | #10 Youngstown State: 837

The Mountaineers grinded out a low-scoring win against Youngstown State for their first win against a top-10 nationally ranked team of the semester. With a narrow seven pin lead heading into game five, the Mount used a 170-135 advantage to seal the victory.

#13 Mount: 962 | BYE

The Mountaineers used their highest scoring set of the day in the BYE round, posting a 962 set that was highlighted by a daily high game of 222.

#13 Mount: 894 | Morgan State: 805

The Mount came on top in a battle of the only two Maryland schools in attendance. An identical 200 score in games two and three gave the Mount the separation they needed over Morgan State.

#13 Mount: 802 | Penn State-Altoona: 652

The lowest scoring set of the day for the Mountaineers would come at a good time, as an 802 total pinfall was able to outlast the 652 posted by the Nittany Lions of Penn State-Altoona.

#13 Mount: 908 | Felician: 777

After a rough 146 to open the match, the Mountaineers responded with games of 194, 187, 181, and 200 to defeat the Felician Golden Eagles by over 100-pins and cap off an undefeated day.

The Mountaineers currently sit on an island in tournament standings in second place, about 300-pins behind first place Youngstown and nearly 200-pins above Saint Francis-PA. Competition will resume at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow with five traditional matches. All competition can be streamed live off the team's Facebook page.
