MOUNT UPDATE
After beginning the year with three straight wins, the Mountaineers have dropped the past three matches. The latest one coming at the hands of James Madison on Saturday night. James Madison, coming off a win over top-ranked Wake Forest, scored in the sixth minute to take an early lead. Manuel Ferriol buried it into the back of the net to give the Dukes (5-2-0) the lead. Ferriol connected on goals in the 60th and 66th minutes to push James Madison's advantage to 3-0. The Dukes held a 10-to-5 advantage in shots in the game while each team had a pair of corner kicks. Yann Kouemi had a pair of shots to lead the Mount offense while freshman goalkeeper Riccardo Zonta made four saves in his collegiate debut.
NEC OPENERS
The Mount boasts an impressive 16-6-3 record in its Northeast Conference season openers. Last year, the Mountaineers began NEC play with a scoreless tie to Fairleigh Dickinson at home. They will look to improve on their Northeast Conference opener record on Friday.
SCOUTING ROBERT MORRIS
With only one win in their first eight games to start the season, the Colonials are looking to right the ship as NEC play begins on Friday. Robert Morris began the season with four straight losses to Oakland, Bowling Green, Cleveland State, and La Salle. They were able to secure their first victory of the year over California Baptist 2-1. The Colonials are 0-2-1 in their last three matches with losses to Longwood and Duquesne. They tied Howard 1-1 in their previous match. Senior forward Christian Coridon leads the team with three points on the year while sophomore goalkeeper Grant Glorioso has made three starts with a 1.67 goals against average.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Mountaineers are 4-1-3 all-time against the Colonials. Robert Morris' only victory in the series came last year at Waldron Family Stadium. Riccardo Rota propelled the Colonials to a 2-1 victory over the Mount with a goal in the 87th minute.
