YORK, Pa. (Dec. 8, 2019) – In what was a tough weekend for the No. 13 Mount St. Mary's Bowling squad against the vaunted Northeast Conference (NEC), the Mountaineers went 1-5 in traditional play during the second conference meet at Colony Lanes North.
Despite the defeats, Mount is still in position to qualify for the NEC Championships. With a 4-8 mark, they stand in fifth place and if the season ended today the Mount would face Fairleigh Dickinson in the play-in fourth place matchup.
#13 Mount: 874 | #10 Duquesne 922
The Mountaineers stayed within striking distance of the Dukes, but a number of missed makeables led to the defeat. Dodson led the Mount with a 207 game. The Dukes went 4-2 on the weekend and stand in first in the NEC with a 10-2 mark.
#13 Mount: 914 | Saint Francis U 941
Game two was also close, but the Mountaineers were upset by the Red Flash by 27 pins. Stanton bowled a 211 - one of a pair of 200 plus performances - and
Danielle Milo added a score of 199.
#13 Mount: 949 | Saint Francis Brooklyn 1,006
Mount's troublesome Saturday concluded with another upset - this time at the hands of St. Francis Brooklyn. Dodson edged D'Ottavio to lead all bowlers with a 235.
#13 Mount: 889 | #19 Sacred Heart: 921
Hopes for a rebound on Sunday were hampered with yet another defeat by less than 50 pins. The Pioneers took home the victory despite a 197 score from Mount's
Ashley Santos.
#13 Mount: 939 | #17 Fairleigh Dickinson: 828
The Mountaineers staved off an 0-for-6 weekend with a victory against the Knights. Stanton's 258 score was the key to victory and
Barbara Hawes chipped in a 201 for extra insurance. FDU stands just ahead of the Mount with a 5-7 record.
#13 Mount: 925 | Long Island 956
The weekend concluded with Mount's fourth defeat inside of 50 pins, falling to Long Island. The Sharks are second in NEC play with a record of 9-3.
