NORTHEAST CONFERENCE MEET #2
Saturday, December 7 - Sunday, December 8
York, Pennsylvania | Colony Park Lanes North
The Mount St. Mary's bowling team heads up Route 15 to battle their Northeast Conference (NEC) foes in the second of three conference meets this season in York, Pa.
SETTING THE SCENE
In the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) ranking, the Mount's bowling team achieved their highest spot ever - No. 13 - in just their second season. The placement is an acknowledgement of the team's 35-15 start, which includes an 8-7 mark against ranked opponents.
Four of the six tournaments so far have resulted in trophy finishes for the meet. It all started with a runner-up finish at the Bud Whitman Invitational to open the season, followed by another second place effort at the Virginia Union University Invite. Most recently, the team placed third at North Carolina A&T's Stallings Invitational, finishing behind a pair of top 10 teams in the NTCA poll. The USBC team won in a tournament at State College in November, although those games are not officially counted in the team's NCAA record.
Along the way, Rebecca Dodson has earned a pair of NEC Bowler of the Week awards, with Tamera Stanton also earning the nod after the Bud Whitman Invitational.
One spot where the Mount is looking to improve can be taken care of this week at the NEC Meet. The team went 3-3 in the first meet and is currently tied for fourth in the conference standings.

This weekend's meet will be played exclusively in a traditional format. Teams will bowl a total of seven games, with four games on Saturday (Dec. 7) and three on Sunday (Dec. 8). Competition begins at 11:00 a.m. Saturday and 9:00 a.m. Sunday.
