- The Mount was last in action on Friday, December 20, a 59-48 loss at Navy that stretched the Mount's losing streak to four. Nana Opoku and Malik Jefferson each scored eight points to lead the Mountaineeers. After falling behind 12-6 early, Navy was able to stretch the lead to 31-21 at the half. The Mount pulled within three points on a pair of occasions in the second half, but was unable regain the lead. Mount St. Mary's shot 33.9 percent from the field in the game.
- This will be the seventh all-time meeting between the Mount and Coppin State with the Mountaineers owning a 6-0 lead in the series. The teams last met on December 22, 2017, a 66-53 Mount victory at Coppin State. One of the biggest wins in Mount program history was a 69-60 win over the Eagles in the Opening Round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament in Dayton, Ohio. It was the Mount's first NCAA Division I Tournament win.
- This is the final non-conference game of the season for the Mountaineers before opening Northeast Conference play. The Mount is 3-9 in non-conference action this year, and has had just one winning season in non-conference play (5-4 in 2002-03) since joining the NEC in 1989-90. The most non-conference wins by a Mount team in the Division I era is six. The 1989-90 team went 6-6 while the 2017-18 team was 6-7.
- Up next, the Mount opens Northeast Conference play by hosting Wagner on Thursday, January 2, for a 7:00 p.m. matchup at Knott Arena.
