- The Mount is back in action after a 10-day break for final exams. The Mountaineers fell to longtime rival Loyola, 64-48, on December 7 at Knott Arena in the 175th all-time meeting between the two teams. Damian Chong Qui led the Mount with 16 points and seven boards while Malik Jefferson chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds.
- This will be the 67th all-time meeting between the Mount and American with the series tied at 33 wins each. The Mount has won the past three meetings, including a 56-55 victory at American last season. The Mount is 15-10 all-time at home against the Eagles.
- Last year, Malik Jefferson tallied 12 points and 20 rebounds to propel Mount St. Mary's to a 56-55 win at American. The 20 rebounds are the most by a Mount player in the school's NCAA Division I era. The Mountaineers held a 56-55 lead, but American was able to get a defensive stop and a chance to win at the end. American's leading scorer, Sa'eed Nelson drove the length of the court, but saw his lay-up come up short. The Mount's Omar Habwe grabbed the board to secure the one-point victory.
- Malik Jefferson has scored in double figures on five occasions this season, including two of the past three contests. Jefferson is averaging 11.3 points over the past three games. He has grabbed five or more rebounds in each of the past six games, and has reached double figures in rebounds on four occasions this season.
- Damian Chong Qui is averaging 19.5 points over the past two games, including a career-best 23 in the overtime loss at Grand Canyon. Chong Qui has reached double figures in scoring in each of the past five games.
- Up next, the Mount travels to Navy for a 1:00 p.m. matchup on Friday, December 20.
