NEWS AND NOTES
- The Mountaineers fell at Lamar, 76-61, on Friday night. The Cardinals went on a 27-to-5 first-half run to erase an early 14-to-9 Mount lead. Lamar maintained that momentum for a 44-28 lead at the half, and led by double figures the rest of the way. Vado Morse came off the bench to pace the Mountaineers with 17 points while Damian Chong Qui added seven. The Mount shot 42.9 percent in the game while Lamar shot 52.7 percent.
- This is the first-ever meeting between the Mount and UAB. The Mountaineers are 0-4 all-time against Conference USA opponents with the losses coming to Marshall, Old Dominion, Houston and Tulane,
- This will be the Mount's first game in the state of Alabama since opening the 1988-89 season with games at Samford and Auburn. The Mount opened that year, its first in NCAA Division I, with an 80-75 loss at Samford on November 25, 1988. The following night, the Mountaineers were edged by Auburn, 89-83.
- Mount St. Mary's was picked to finish in seventh place in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Long Island has been tabbed as the preseason NEC favorites, followed by Sacred Heart, Saint Francis U, Fairleigh Dickinson, Robert Morris, Bryant, Mount St. Mary's, St. Francis Brooklyn, Wagner, Central Connecticut and Merrimack.
- This game is part of the BBN Showcase that features the Mount, Kentucky, Utah Valley, Lamar and UAB. This is the second of four games the Mount will play in the BBN Showcase with a game at Kentucky (Nov. 22) and at home against Utah Valley (Nov. 26) up next on the schedule/
