NEWS AND NOTES

• The Mount evened its record with a 75-58 victory over Gettysburg in the home opener on Saturday night at Knott Arena.  Malik Jefferson led the way with 14 points and 13 rebounds for his fourth career double-double.  Vado Morse chipped in 14 points, Damian Chong Qui 13 and Jalen Gibbs 11 in the victory.  After Gettysburg closed within six in the second half, the Mount went on a 10-0 to take a 53-37 lead to seal the victory.
• The Mount is 0-1 all-time against Washington, falling to the Huskies, 100-67, on November 19, 2015, the first meeting between the two teams.  The Mount has played a Pac-12 opponent just four times and is 0-4 in those contests.
• This will be the Mount's first game against a ranked opponentssince falling at No. 13 Notre Dame, 88-62, on Nov. 13, 2017.  The Mountaineers are 1-30 all-time against ranked opponents with the win coming against No. 21 Georgia Tech on Dec. 18, 1995.  Jeff Balistrere hit a game-winning lay-up at the buzzer to send the Mount to the win.
• Mount St. Mary's was picked to finish in seventh place in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.  Long Island has been tabbed as the preseason NEC favorites, followed by Sacred Heart, Saint Francis U, Fairleigh Dickinson, Robert Morris, Bryant, Mount St. Mary's, St. Francis Brooklyn, Wagner, Central Connecticut and Merrimack.
• The Mountaineers had 11 steals in the home-opening win over Gettysburg on Saturday, and are averaging 9.0 steals per game this season.  Vado Morse matched a career high with four steals in the Gettysburg win, and he leads the team with five on the year.
• Up next, the Mount will play at Lamar on Friday, November 15, with an 8:00 p.m. (ET) matchup.
