Box Score October 27, 2019 (North Andover, Ma.) - Mount St. Mary's men's soccer was shut down by the top team in Northeast Conference (NEC) this year, falling 3-0 to the Merrimack Warriors Sunday in North Andover.
Mount falls to 6-8 (2-4 NEC) this season while Merrimack improves to 8-3-2 (6-0-0 NEC). The Warriors' record does not factor into the conference standings while they are in transition to Division I.
The Mountaineers were limited to four shots on offense, compared to 20 shots by the Warriors. Fela Osifeso led The Mount with two shots, and Juan Molina registered a shot on goal.
Merrimack got on the board with a strike from Gianluca Arlotti in the 23rd minute. The Warriors increased their lead a goal from Tola Showunmi and an own goal in the second half.
With their record, Mount has to make up at least four point over three games to be considered for postseason play. They will play Saint Francis U and Long Island this weekend at home, before wrapping up against Fairleigh Dickinson on the road on November 10th.
