Mount Bowling Posts 4-1 Record on Final Day of Bud Whitman Memorial

Reading, Pa. (October 14, 2018) -- One day after going undefeated and taking home the tournament crown in the program's first-ever competition, the Mount St. Mary's women's bowling team followed it up with another solid performance on the final day of the Bud Whitman memorial, posting a 4-1 record on Sunday to finished the weekend at 9-1 overall, which was the best record among all teams in the field.

The Mountaineers topped Bloomfield, Penn State Behrend, Medaille, and the 19th-ranked team in the nation LIU Brooklyn on Sunday, as they finished in 11th place on the final day with a 170.6 team average. Ashley Santos, who rolled a 248 in the team's final match of the day, led the Mount on Sunday with a 179.98 average.

"I am really proud of the way our team competed all weekend," said Head Coach Kenneth DeGraaf. "For a group of all freshmen to come in and win their first-ever college tournament and post the best record all weekend is incredible. They were not afraid of any team, and showed it by going a perfect 3-0 against nationally-ranked teams. Still, we know we have work to do to get better, and we will focus on that before our home tournament."

Daemen: 859
Mount St. Mary's: 815

The Mountaineers suffered their first loss of the season during the opneing match of the second day, falling to Daemen by an 859-815 margin.

Mount St. Mary's: 824
Bloomfield: 770

Following their first loss, the Mountaineers bounced back with an 824-770 win over Bloomfield to get back in the win column. Tamera Stanton's 206 in the match led the way for the Mount.

Mount St. Mary's: 802
Penn State Behrend: 647

In the third match of the day, the Mount added another win to its total with an 802-647 victory over Penn State Behrend, paced by Santos' score of 189.

Mount St. Mary's: 895
#19 LIU Brooklyn: 773

The Mount improved to a perfect 3-0 against nationally-ranked opponents on the season with an 895-773 win over #19 LIU Brooklyn on Sunday. Rebecca Dodson rolled a 203 to lead the team, while Stanton shot a 193 and Danielle Milo registered a 190.

Mount St. Mary's: 928
Medaille: 832

The Mount made it four straight wins with a 928-832 victory over Medaille to close out the tournament. Santos' score of 248 was the highest at the tournament for the team. Barbara Hawes helped pace the squad with a 182 in the match.

Mount St. Mary's is set to host its own tournament, the Mount Shootout, on October 20 and 21 at Sunshine Lanes in Waynesboro, Pa.
