Annapolis, Md. (January 21, 2017) – Rookie Alexa Quintanilla claimed victory at the top flight of singles and combined with Sruthi Kamprath for a win in doubles action, but Mount St. Mary's University dropped a 6-1 decision at Navy to open the spring semester.

Quintanilla posted a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Carlee Conway at No. 1 for the Mount's lone victory in singles action. Kelly Smith fell to Aimee Devishian by a 6-2, 6-0 final at No. 2, and Sruthi Kamprath put up a fight at the third flight, but fell to Meghan O'Malley, 3-6, 6-1, 6-0. Rounding out singles play, Erin Benefiel was 6-2, 6-3, at No. 4, Hannah Davis lost by a 6-2, 6-4 margin to Sabrina Jiang at No. 5 and Emma Blake dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at the sixth flight.

In doubles play, Quintanilla and Kamprath downed Hernandez and Conway, 6-2, at the top flight, but Benefiel and Smith lost to Hodge and Keller, 6-1, at No. 2 and Davis and Blake fell to Balsavage and Bobb, 6-3, at No. 3 as Navy grabbed the doubles point.

The Mount returns to action on February 25 at Lehigh at 3 p.m.
