West Windsor, N.J. (April 22, 2016) – The Mount St. Mary's University women's tennis team fell at the hands of Fairleigh Dickinson, 5-0, in the Northeast Conference Quarterfinals at Mercer County Tennis Center on Friday.
Fairleigh Dickinson collected the doubles point as Gisela Castany and Shreya Pasricha downed Kelly Smith and Erin Benefiel, 6-0, at No. 1 and Nicole Chis and Katarina Pavlovic earned a 6-3 win over Brittany Poje and Sruthi Kamprath at No. 2. The third flight of doubles between Isabella Draper and Emma Blake of the Mount and Liza Rachenko and Sabrina Helm of FDU, which was tied at 4-4, went unfinished as the Knights had already clinched the doubles competition with wins at the top two flights.
The Knights claimed victories at No. 1 and 2 singles as Chis registered a 6-2, 6-1 win over Smith and Castany notched a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Poje. FDU secured its match victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win from Pasricha over Kamprath at the fourth flight and a 6-0, 6-1 win by Pavlovic over Blake at No. 5. Draper was beating Helm, 6-3, 5-0, at No. 6, but the match went unfinished.
