Mount Women's Tennis Falls to Howard, 5-2

Emmitsburg, Md. (March 29, 2016) -- Brittany Poje and Sruthi Kamprath posted victories in singles action, but the Mount St. Mary's University women's tennis team fell to Howard by a 5-2 final on Tuesday at the Mount Tennis Courts.

Poje registered a 7-5, 1-6 (10-6) win over Jessica Josiah at No. 2 singles and Kamprath collected a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Sajela Harlow at the fourth flight for the pair of Mount points on the afternoon. Kelly Smith dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Stacey Roheman at the top flight, Erin Benefiel fell 6-0, 6-3 to Nicole Hutchinson at No. 3, Emma Blake was topped 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 by Kindha Nasef and Isabella Draper fell 6-1, 7-5 to Christina Joynes at No. 6 to round out the singles matches.

In doubles play, Smith and Benefiel fell by a 6-3 margin to Roheman and Josiah at the top flight, Blake and Poje dropped a 6-3 decision to Umarah Mughnee and Nasef at No. 2 and Draper and Barbato lost to Harlow and Joynes, 6-2, at No. 3.

The Mountaineers play host to Morgan St. on Wednesday, March 30 at 3 p.m.
