Box Score Emmitsburg, Md. (February 25, 2016)--Junior Robinson (Mebane, N.C.) scored a team-high 16 points, but Mount St. Mary's fell to visiting Fairleigh Dickinson, 67-54, on Thursday night at Knott Arena. The Knights outscored the Mount, 39-22, in the second half to pull away for the victory.
Leading 36-33 early in the second half after a Gregory Graves (Sterling, Va.) jumper, the Mount saw FDU go on a 13-to-3 run to grab a 46-39 advantage midway through the second half.
The Mount (13-17, 10-7 NEC) answered with a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 46-45. Robinson started the run with a bucket in the paint, and Glover followed with a free throw and then a three-pointer.
The teams exchanged baskets for the next few minutes with the Mount cutting the FDU (14-14, 10-7 NEC) advantage to 52-51 on a Graves lay-up with 3:57 left in the game. The Knights, however, went on a 9-to-1 to take a 61-52 lead with 1:20 on the clock. FDU was able to hit free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
Robinson went 6-of-15 from the field while scoring his team-high 16 points for the Mountaineers. Glover added 12 points and four rebounds while Elijah Long (Mississauga, Ont.) added eight points off the bench. Graves chipped in five points and a team-high seven rebounds.
The game was the final regular season home game for seniors Graves, Taylor Danaher (Fredericksburg, Va.) and Liam McManimon (Galloway, N.J.). All three players were in the starting lineup.
Earl Potts, Jr., led FDU with 18 points and 10 rebounds with Marques Townes (16 points), Darian Anderson (14 points) and Stephan Jiggetts (10 points) also reaching double figures.
The Mount shot just 32.2 percent overall and was 6-of-25 (.240) from three-point range. FDU shot 48.1 percent in the game and was 7-of-14 (.500) from beyond the arc.
The Mount pulled to a 15-to-8 lead midway through the first half on a Robinson three-pointer and a Glover traditional three-point play. A Glover three-pointer with 3:40 left in the half gave the Mount a 27-20 lead. FDU cut the gap to 30-28, but Robinson made a tough shot in the lane to close out the half with the Mount leading 32-28.
The Mountaineers are now in a four-way tie for second place in the Northeast Conference standings heading into the final game of the regular season on Saturday. The Mount is tied with Fairleigh Dickinson, Sacred Heart and St. Francis Brooklyn.
Mount St. Mary's heads to St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. matchup. The winner of that game will secure a first-round home game in the next week's NEC Tournament.
