Towson, Md. (February 19, 2016) -- The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision against Towson on Friday night at Bare Hills Racquet & Fitness Club.
The Tigers swept the doubles competition, led by the No. 1 doubles team of Lucy Williams and Lucy Gloninger, who earned a 6-2 win over Kelly Smith and Erin Benefiel. A.J. Gomer and Renate van Oorschodt followed with a 6-2 victory over Brittany Poje and Sruthi Kamprath in No. 2 doubles, and Sophie Lesage and Yevgeniya Shusterman also earned a 6-2 win over Isabella Draper and Emma Blake at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Barbora Vasilkova got Towson on the board with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Kelly Smith at the No. 1 singles position. In No. 2 singles action, Poje put up the Mount's top performance of the night, but fell to Lesage, 6-4, 6-2. Gomer followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Kamprath at No. 3 singles, van Oorschodt topped Benefiel 6-2, 6-3 in No. 4 singles, Gloninger earned a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Blake at No. 5 singles, and Shusterman won 6-0, 6-1 over Draper in the final singles match.
The Mount heads to Lehigh for a match on Sunday, February 21 at 10 a.m.
