Box Score Emmitsburg, Md. (February 13, 2016) -- Junior Robinson tallied a game-high 21 points to lift Mount St. Mary's University men's basketball past Saint Francis U, 66-61, in Northeast conference action Saturday at Knott Arena. The Mountaineers rallied from an 11-point deficit with 8:00 remaining to earn the victory.
Robinson went 5-of-11 from the floor and 10-for-12 at the free throw line, and also added a game-high four assists. Gregory Graves registered a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds to help pace the Mount.
Trailing 52-41 after a Georgios Angelou three-pointer with 8:20 remaining, the Mount (12-15, 9-5 NEC) rallied to secure the win. Graves and BK Ashe connected on back-to-back three-pointers to quickly cut the deficit to five.
The Red Flash held a 56-51 advantage with 6:32 left after a Malik Harmon free throw, but the Mount countered with an 11-0 run to take the lead. A Charles Glover three-pointer and a Chris Wray putback tied the score at 56-56 with 5:40 on the clock.
Robinson then converted a pair of free throws, Wray connected on a shot in the lane on a feed from Robinson, and Robinson added another pair of free throws to give the Mount a 62-56 advantage with 3:21 left. St. Francis did not threaten the rest of the way.
Robinson finished the game with 21 points and four assists. The 5-5 sophomore guard has scored 20 or more points in three of the past four games, averaging 20.3 points over that stretch. He was coming off a career-high 26 points in the Mount's 66-61 win over Sacred Heart on Thursday.
Graves finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the eighth double-double of his career. The 6-7 senior added four blocks and a pair of steals in a solid all-around effort. Ashe and Glover each chipped in nine points in the win while Wray tallied six points and seven rebounds.
Basil Thompson led the Red Flash (13-12, 9-5 NEC) with 16 points while Greg Brown added 14 in the loss. Ronnie Drinnon tallied 11 points and 20 rebounds in the game as well.
The Mount held St Francis to 30.0 percent shooting, including 4-of-21 (.190) from three-point range. Mount St. Mary's shot 37.7 percent in the game, but was 21-of-26 at the foul line (.808).
In the opening half, Graves scored four consecutive points to push the Mount to a 19-13 lead. The Red Flash answered with a 7-0 run to take the lead. Mount St. Mary's counter punched with a 9-2 spurt to grab a 28-22 advantage. That run was capped by a Troy Henderson three-pointer in transition. The Mount led 34-29 at the half.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Thursday, February 20, with a 7:00 p.m. game at Central Connecticut.
