Emmitsburg, Md. (October 21, 2016) -- Brittany Poje claimed a victory in singles action, but Mount St. Mary's University fell to Towson, 6-1, in action Thursday from the Mount Tennis Courts.

Poje posted a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Renate von Oorschodt at flight 3 singles for the Mount's lone point of the match.

Lucy Williams topped Kelly Smith, 6-4, 6-0, at the top flight and Barbora Vasilkova registered a 7-5, 7-6 (2) win over Alexa Quintanilla at No. 2 as the Tigers took two of the top three flights.

Lucy Gloninger downed Sruthi Kamprath, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 4 singles, Yevgeniya Shushterman notched a 6-0, 6-1 over Erin Benefiel at No. 5 and Sophie Lesage closed out singles play with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Hannah Davis at No. 6.

Towson won all three doubles match, led by the top flight pairing of Williams and Gloninger, who collected a 6-3 win over Poje and Kamprath. At No. 2 doubles, Vasilkova and Shusterman topped Benefiel and Poje, 6-2, and von Oorschodt and Lesage posted a 7-5 win over Davis and Quintanilla at No. 3.

The Mount is back in action for a match with Monmouth on Sunday, October 23 at 1 p.m. in Emmitsburg.
