Box Score

Moon Township, Pa. (January 14, 2016)—BK Ashe (Washington, D.C.) recorded his first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Mount St. Mary's to a 76-52 win at Robert Morris on Thursday.

Will Miller (Dallas, Texas) added 12 points, Gregory Graves (Sterling, Va.) 11, Chris Wray (Shelby, N.C.) 11 and Taylor Danaher (Fredericksburg, Va.) 10 as the Mount had five players score in double figures for the second time this season.

Leading 9-7 midway through the first half, the Mountaineers (7-11, 4-1 NEC) closed the half with a 34-to-6 run to take control of the game.  The Mount scored 21 unanswered points to break the game open.  Graves started the run with a free throw and a hoop, Miller nailed a three-pointer, and Ashe scored on the break to put the Mount ahead by 10 points.

Wray added a dunk,  Danaher scored in the lane, and Miller and Ashe then converted back-to-back three-pointers to push the lead to 27-7.  Wray closed the run with a traditional three-point play when he converted a dunk and was fouled on the play.  He made the free throw for a 23-point advantage.

The Mount continued to add to the lead, capping the half on a Miller three-pointer to make it 43-13 at the break.  Miller was 4-for-6 from beyond the arc in the opening half for 12 points while Ashe added 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Mount maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second half to cruise to the win.

Mount St. Mary's held a commanding 45-27 edge on the boards.  In addition to Ashe's career-best 10 rebounds, Danaher had eight boards, while Graves, Wray and Miller chipped in six boards each.

Matty McConnell led Robert Morris (3-15, 1-4 NEC) with 16 points while Kavon Stewart added 12 in the loss.

The Mount shot 45.2 percent in the win, including 41.2 percent from three-point range.  The Mountaineers held Robert Morris to 39.5 percent shooting, including 5-of-23 (.217) in the first half.

This was the Mount's first NEC regular season win at the Sewall Center since a 64-62 victory on Feb. 25, 2006.  The Mount has gone 4-2 at Robert Morris in the NEC playoffs over that span, however.  The win also snapped an eight-game NEC regular season losing streak to Robert Morris as well.
