Baltimore, Md. (September 27, 2015)--The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team rounded out competition at the Loyola Women's Tennis Invitational on Sunday.
In the South consolation round, the Mount had two teams play each other with Erin Benefiel and Kelly Smith defeating Isabella Draper and Elizabeth Veronis, 3-0. Smith and Benefield won the doubles point, 8-3. Smith defeated Veronis, 6-3, 6-3 while Benefield downed Veronis, 6-3, 3-6 (10-4).
In the Northeast consolation round, Brittany Poje and Emma Blake were downed by Awad and Walston of George Mason, 3-0. The George Mason duo edged the Mount, 8-7, for the doubles point. In singles, Awad defeated Poje, 6-1, 6-2 while Walston clipped Blake, 2-6, 7-5 (10-3).
The Mountaineers next return to the courts when they host the Mount St. Mary's Invitational on October 2-4 at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts.
