Mount St. Mary's Women's Tennis Continues Play at Loyola Invitational

Baltimore, Md. (September 26, 2015)—The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team continued play at the Loyola Women's Tennis Invitational today.

In the quarterfinals, Brittany Poje and Emma Blake fell to Sydney Green and Brittany Pilkington of George Mason by the score of 3-0.  The George Mason duo won the doubles point, 8-2, while they won both singles matches in straight sets.

In the consolation round, the Mountaineers lost a pair of matches to teams from Longwood.  Fallon Burger and Anna Pelak defeated the Mount's Elizabeth Veronis and Isabella Draper by the score of 3-0.  Kelly Smith and Erin Benefiel lost to Alex Brown and Tess Willis by the score of 3-0 as well.

In the South consolation, Smith and Benefield teamed for a 2-1 win over Longwood's Maria Coronel and Daniela Diaz.  The Mount edged the Longwood duo, 8-7 (11-9) for the doubles points.  Benefield took a 6-2, 6-2 win over Coronel to clinch the match.

In the North consolation, Poje and Blake were edged by Loyola's Hughes and Morgus by the score of 2-1.  Poje earned the Mount's point with a 6-1, 6-0 win in singles play.

The tournament concludes on Sunday.
