Mount St. Mary's Drops Final Non-Conference Game at Binghamton

Vestal, N.Y. (December 29, 2015)—Mount St. Mary's closed out its non-conference schedule with a 62-53 loss at Binghamton on Tuesday night.  BK Ashe led the Mount with 10 points in the game.

Trailing 42-33 with 13:50 remaining, the Mountaineers went on a 7-0 run over the next six minutes to cut the deficit to 42-40.  Ashe had five points in the run, including a lay-up with 7:36 left to made it a two-point game.

The Bearcats responded with a Dusan Perovic three-point play to push the lead back to five.  A Charles Glover three-pointer from the left corner with 3:40 left cut the Mount's deficit to 51-47, but Binghamton was able to seal the win by hitting 10-of-12 at the foul line in the final 1:44 of the game.

Ashe led the Mount with 10 points while Junior Robinson and Khalid Nwandu added eight points each.  Gregroy Graves chipped in seven points and three assists while Taylor Danaher grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.

Willie Rodriguez led Binghamton with 19 points and 13 rebounds while Everson Davis added 18 points and six boards.

The Mount shot 33.3 percent from the floor in the game while hitting 4-of-17 (.235) from three-point range.  Binghamton shot 37.2 percent overall, but was 28-for-38 (.737) at the charity stripe in the game.

The Mount's Chris Wray started the game fast, scoring on a dunk and a lay-up for a 4-1 lead in the early minutes.  Binghamton rebounded with a 10-0 run to gain the lead.  The Bearcats held its biggest lead of the half, 28-16, before the Mount closed the half with a 7-3 run to make it 31-23.

The Mount hit just 30.0 percent (9-of-30) from the field in the opening half while making 2-of-8 (.250) from three-point range.  Binghamton held a 24-16 edge on the boards with Rodriguez posting a first-half double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.

The Mountaineers open Northeast Conference play on Saturday, January 2nd, when LIU Brooklyn visits Knott Arena for a 2:00 p.m. matchup.  It is the first of a four-game homestand for the Mount
