Mount St. Mary's Men's Basketball Heads to Lehigh for Saturday Night Matchup

The Mount St. Mary's University men's basketball team looks to stretch its win streak to four with a Saturday afternoon matchup with local rival UMBC.  The Mountaineers swept their three-game homestand last week, rallying from a 14-point halftime deficit for an 81-73 win over Bucknell on Tuesday.

FIRST FIVE
1.  Mount St. Mary's is coming off a 75-63 loss at UMBC on December 12.  In a game of scoring runs, UMBC used a 15-to-1 run to open the second half to break a 32-32 tie and take control of the game.  BK Ashe led the Mount with 23 points and five steals while Will Miller added nine points in the game.  The first half was a game of scoring runs with the Mountaineers using a 20-4 spurt to grab a 22-10 lead midway through the half.  The Retrievers countered by scoring the next 17 points in the game to take a 27-22 lead.  UMBC held a 32-to-25 lead before the Mount ended the half with a 7-0 run to even the score.

2.  Bench scoring has been a positive for the Mountaineers this season.  The Mount is receiving 36.9 points per game from the bench over the past eight games.  The bench has scored 28 or more points in each of the eight contests, topping 40 points four times.  

3.  Center Taylor Danaher is averaging 10.7 points and 4.2 rebounds over the past six games.  The 7-0 senior is shooting 73.5 percent from the field over that stretch.  He had a string of 17 consecutive field goals made snapped in the Mount's 75-63 loss at UMBC this past Saturday.

4. Junior Robinson had seven assists in the Mount's loss at UMBC, and he leads the team with 45 assists on the year. Robinson has recorded six or more assists in each of the past five games, averaging 7.0 per game over that span.  He is second in the Northeast Conference at 4.5 assists/game.
