Box Score Baltimore, Md. (December 12, 2015)—Mount St. Mary's saw its three-game win streak snapped with a 75-63 loss at UMBC on Saturday afternoon. Junior guard BK Ashe (Washington, D.C.) led the Mount with 23 points in the game.
In a game that featured several scoring runs, UMBC opened the second half with a 15-to-1 run to break a 32-32 halftime tie and take a 47-33 lead. The Retrievers held the Mount at bay the remainder of the way.
Will Miller (Dallas, Texas) added nine points while Elijah Long (Mississauga, Ont.) and Taylor Danaher (Fredericksburg, Va.) each scored eight points for the Mountaineers.
UMBC was led by Will Darley, who finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds in the game. Rodney Elliott added 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Retrievers.
The first half was a game of scoring runs with the Mountaineers using a 20-4 spurt to grab a 22-10 lead midway through the half. Ashe scored eight points during the streak, including a four-point play that gave the Mount a 16-to-8 advantage.
The Retrievers countered by scoring the next 17 points in the game to take a 27-22 lead. UMBC held a 32-to-25 lead before the Mount ended the half with a 7-0 run to even the score at the half. Danaher had four points in the run, including a basket with 29.0 seconds left in the half that evened the score.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Saturday, December 19, with a 7:00 p.m. road game at Lehigh.
