The Mount St. Mary's men's basketball team hosts its second exhibition game of the season when Randolph-Macon visits Knott Arena on Saturday, November 7, for a 5:00 p.m. matchup. Admission to the game is free while fans are asked to bring a canned good to benefit the Seton Center.
NEWS AND NOTES:
* The Mountaineers used a strong defensive effort en route to a 64-44 win over Hood College in an exhbition game on Tuesday night at Knott Arena. Gregory Graves led the way with 13 points and eight rebounds while Junior Robinson had a solid effort at the point with 11 points, six rebounds and three assists.
* Mount St. Mary's was tabbed as the preseason favorite in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The Mount garnered six first-place votes en route to the top spot. Mount St. Mary's has been picked first in the NEC Preseason Coaches Poll on four other occasions, the last coming prior to the 2009-10 season. The only time the Mount was picked first by the coaches and won the NEC Tournament was in 1998-99.
* Senior forward Gregory Graves and junior guard BK Ashe were named Preseason All-Northeast Conference by the league's coaches. Both Ashe and Graves were Third Team All-NEC selections last season. The remainder of the Preseason All-NEC team includes Cane Broome (Sacred Heart), Dan Garvin (Bryant) and Rodney Pryor (Robert Morris).
* The Mountaineers face a tough schedule in the month of November, beginning with a trip to No. 3 Maryland to open the season on Friday, November 13. The Mount will also play at Ohio State (Nov. 15), at Washington (Nov. 19), at No. 9 Gonzaga (Nov. 21), at Elon (Nov. 26) and vs. either Texas A&M-Corpus Christi or Furman (Nov. 27).
* Up next, the Mountaineers open the 2015-16 season at No. 3 Maryland on Friday, November 13, at 7:00 p.m. The game will air live on the Big10 Network.
