Mount St. Mary's Men's Basketball Falls to Washington

Seattle, Wash. (November 19, 2015)—Mount St. Mary's University fell to the Washington Huskies, 100-67, on Thursday night at Alaska Airlines Arena.  Sophomore guard Junior Robinson (Mebane, N.C.) led the Mountaineers with 16 points.

Washington jumped to a 27-7 lead nine minutes into the game behind eight points from Marquese Chriss.  The Mount fought back, cutting the deficit to 37-25 with 4:33 left in the half.  Robinson capped a 9-2 run with back-to-back three-pointers to make it a 12-point game.

The Huskies (2-0) responded by outscoring the Mount 14-to-1 the rest of the way to stretch the lead to 51-28 at the half.  The Mount shot just 25.0 percent (9-of-36) in the half, including 5-of-21 (.238) from three-point range.  Washington converted 57.6 percent from the floor in the half while holding a 28-16 edge on the boards.

Washington outscored the Mount, 49-39, in the second half to secure the victory.

BK Ashe (Washington, D.C.) added 13 points and six rebounds while Khalid Nwandu (York, Pa.) chipped in 12 points and four rebounds in the game.  Freshman Elijah Long (Mississauga, Ont.) added nine points and four rebounds for the Mount (0-3) off the bench.

Chriss finished with a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds for Washington with Andrew Andrews adding 20 points in the win.

The Mount shot 24-of-77 (.312) from the field and 9-of-37 (.243) from three-point range in the game.  Washington finished at 50.7 percent (34-of-67) from the field. 

Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Saturday, November 21, when they visit 10th-ranked Gonzaga.  Tip-off is set for 9:00 p.m. ET.
