Women's Tennis Clipped by Longwood, 4-3

Emmitsburg, Md. (October 25, 2015)--The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team was edged by visiting Longwood, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon.

The Mount earned a win at No. 1 doubles when Kelly Smith and Erin Benefiel teamed for an 8-6 win over Fallon Burger and Paloma Alatorre.  Mason Thomas and Alex Brown downed the Mount's Brittany Poje and Emma Blake, 8-5, at No. 2 doubles while Maria Coronel and Tess Willis won 8-7 (7-4) over the Mount's Isabella Draper and Elizabeth Veronis at No. 3 doubles to seal the doubles point.

In singles play Poje earned a 7-5, 4-6, 10-6 win over Burger at No. 1 singles with Smith posting a 6-1, 6-4 win over Anna Pelak at No. 2 singles.  Draper provided the Mount's last point with a 5-7, 6-4, 13-11 win over Brown at No. 6 singles.  Alatorre defeated Benefield, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 3 singles, Thomas won 6-1, 6-1 over Veronis at No. 4 singles, and Coronel won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 5 singles to give the Lancers the win.
