Mount Women's Tennis Heads to Tiger Classic

Friday, Sept. 12 – Sunday, Sept. 14
The Tiger Tennis Complex | Towson, Md.

THE FORMAT: The format consists of matches that include four singles matches and one doubles match. The team's scores from the matches will not count toward the Mount's overall record.

THE FIELD: In round one on Friday, the Mount will face Towson at 2 p.m. and George Washington at 4 p.m. The next day, the Mountaineers are scheduled to take on Delaware at 11 a.m. before wrapping up the competition on Sunday with matchups against Loyola at 9 a.m. and UMBC at 1 p.m. 

LAST TIME OUT: The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team had its first action of the season at the Mason Invitational this past Saturday. Sisters Jennifer Smith and Kelly Smith teamed up for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles, and they were followed up by freshmen Sruthi Kamprath's and Cassandra Powell's 8-7 win in their No. 2 doubles match. Kamprath was also victorious in her No. 3 singles match in three sets.

SISTER ACT: Jennifer and Kelly Smith paired up for a team-high 11 doubles victories last season. At the Mason Invitational, the duo picked up right where they left off with a win over Christopher Newport's McKinney Harwood and Kate Huck. 

THE SCHEDULE: After opening their season at the Mason Invitational last week, the Tiger Classic is the second of four tournaments on the Mount's fall slate. The Mountaineers will also play five matches in the fall, four of which will be played at home. The Mount's first home action will be the Mount St. Mary's Invitational on Oct. 3-5, at the Mount Tennis Courts. 

UP NEXT: The Mount heads to the Bucknell Invitational, scheduled for Friday, Sept. 19 - Sunday, Sept. 21.
