In the opening action of the season last weekend, the Mountaineers were dealt road losses at George Washington and Temple.

ABOUT AMERICAN: The Eagles are off to a 0-2 start with one-goal losses to Longwood and Monmouth in the early going. Coming off a run to the Patriot League Semifinals, American returns its leading scorer from a season ago in Lindsay Muri, who scored six goals in 2013. Michaela Cowgill scored the lone goal for the Eagles this season, finding the back of the net in the season-opening 2-1 home loss to Longwood.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. AMERICAN: In 17 all-time meetings, the Mount carries a 2-14-1 record versus American. In road games in the series, the Mount is 0-9-1. The last time the two teams played was 2011 when the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

MOUNT VS. THE PATRIOT LEAGUE: American is the first of five Patriot League schools on the Mount's schedule in 2014. The Mountaineers will also face Bucknell, Lehigh, Loyola and Navy. Against schools currently making up the 10-team Patriot League, the Mount's all-time record is 6-52-3.

GETTING EXPERIENCE: Through two games, seven different players made their collegiate debut for Mount St. Mary's. A trio of freshmen, Cia Makrigiorgos, Jordan Fine and Kristen Morawski have earned starts in the early going of the 2014 campaign.

PRESEASON POLL: In the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, Mount St. Mary's was selected to finish ninth. Reigning NEC Champion Saint Francis University was tabbed to repeat this season, while LIU Brooklyn, Central Connecticut State, Fairleigh Dickinson and Wagner rounded out the top five in the poll. Sacred Heart was selected sixth by the coaches, followed by Bryant, Robert Morris and the Mount.

THE SCHEDULE: The Mount's 2014 schedule includes 19 regular season games. Of the 19, 11 are against non-conference opponents. The Mount is also set to host eight games at Waldron Family Stadium beginning with a 1 p.m. showdown with Lehigh on Sunday, Aug. 31.
