MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount plays matches on back-to-back days for the sixth time this season with a road match at Loyola on April 9, followed by a home match against Howard on April 10. The Mount, which has gone 3-3 at home this season, hosts its final match at the Mount Tennis Courts this spring on Thursday. In doubles play, sisters Kelly and Jennifer Smith lead the Mountaineers with 11 wins, while seniors Samantha Pinchoff and Liz Rossi have the best winning percentage (.600) with a 9-6 record.
LAST TIME OUT: In a 6-1 defeat at the hands of George Mason on April 6, senior Liz Rossi came away a winner in both her No. 2 doubles and No. 2 singles matches. Pairing with her classmate, Samantha Pinchoff, Rossi helped the Mount to an 8-6 No. 2 doubles win. In singles play, Rossi used three sets to down George Mason's Morgan Yang, 6-4, 2-6, 10-8.
ABOUT LOYOLA: Coming off a 7-0 loss to Army on April 6, Loyola is 5-2-1 in its last eight matches. In the competitive Patriot League, the Greyhounds are 1-2 with a win over Lafayette.
ABOUT HOWARD: It was a rocky start to the spring season for Howard, which opened up with a 1-3 record through four matches. Since a 4-1 loss at UMBC on March 2, however, the Bison have strung together eight-consecutive wins, including a 4-2 victory at George Mason last time out on April 2. Howard's No. 1 singles player, Katelyn Stokes, leads the squad with a 9-1 record.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS: The Mountaineers had won six in a row versus Loyola before falling by a 5-2 score last season. The Greyhounds have beaten the Mount in 10 of the 18 meeting since the Mount jumped to Division I in 1988-89. Versus Howard, the Mount's all-time record is 6-12. After winning six of the first seven matches against the Bison, the Mount has lost 11 in a row in the series with the squad's last win coming in 1994.
