MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team is looking for its first-ever win over LIU Brooklyn in the Northeast Conference quarterfinals on Thursday. The Mountaineers won seven league titles in a row when they joined the NEC in 1989, but have not won one since 1995. Samantha Pinchoff, the Mount's No. 1 singles player has gone 3-1 versus NEC opponents during her senior season, while senior Liz Rossi and freshman Kelly Smith lead the squad with 12 overall singles wins apiece.

ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIPS: The tournament is single elimination beginning with the quarterfinals on Thursday leading up to Saturday's championship match with a berth in the NCAA Tournament on the line. 

LAST TIME OUT: The Mount snapped a four-match losing streak with a 6-1 road win at Saint Peter's in the final regular season match on April 13. Seniors Liz Rossi and Samantha Pinchoff teamed up for a convincing 8-1 No. 2 doubles victory before Rossi (No. 2), Kelly Smith (No. 3) and Taylor D'Agostino (No. 4) were all winners in singles.

ABOUT LIU BROOKLYN: The second-seeded Blackbirds went 2-3 in their final five regular season matches, including a 7-0 loss at Fordham in the regular season finale. With a 3-1 NEC record, LIU Brooklyn's lone loss was a 4-2 decision at top-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson on March 31. The Blackbirds' No. 3 singles player, Marine Dans, has been dominant with a 13-1 record, while No. 1 player Sanne Louwers also has 13 wins with a 13-8 mark.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. LIU BROOKLYN: The Mount is 0-3 all-time versus LIU Brooklyn with all three matches coming in the NEC Tournament. The last time the two sides met was 2012 when the Blackbirds handed the Mount a 4-0 loss.

AT LAST YEAR'S CHAMPIONSHIPS: The seventh-seeded Mountaineers downed 10th-seeded Wagner in the first round, 6-0, and went on to lose to Quinnipiac in the quarterfinals by a 4-0 final score.

CHAMPIONSHIP PEDIGREE: Mount St. Mary's has won the most Northeast Conference Championships in league history with seven. The Mount set a conference record by winning seven in a row from 1989-95.
