MOUNT UPDATE: Following back-to-back 7-0 wins, the Mount women's tennis team could not extend its winning streak to three, falling by a 6-1 final to Bucknell on March 27. The Mountaineers are playing away from the Mount Tennis Courts for the 10th time this season and carry a 4-5 record in road and neutral site matches. Freshmen Kelly Smith and Erin Benefiel pace the Mount with 10 singles wins apiece in 2013-14.
LAST TIME OUT: Bucknell overpowered the Mount, cruising to a 6-1 win on March 27 in Emmitsburg, Md. The Bison took all three singles matches and were victorious at five out of six singles matches on the day. Playing No. 1 singles, Samantha Pinchoff picked up the Mount's lone win by defeating Elena Vidrascu in three sets.
ABOUT COPPIN STATE: Coppin State is 1-7 on the season with its lone win versus UMES on March 27. The Eagles, which have lost two in a row, have losses to NEC opponents Wagner and Robert Morris on the year.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. COPPIN STATE: The Mount has won five matches in a row by 7-0 scores versus the Eagles and leads the all-time series 14-1. The two sides first played each other on Oct. 8, 1997.
MOUNT VS. THE MEAC: In matches versus schools in the MEAC, the Mount holds a 35-21 all-time record. The Mount has winning records versus Coppin State (14-1), Delaware State (2-1), UMES (3-0), Morgan State (7-2) and South Carolina State (1-0).
ON A ROLL: Senior Samantha Pinchoff has won her last four No. 1 singles matches and five of her last six. Last time out, Pinchoff picked up the Mount's lone point in the team scoring with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Bucknell's Elena Vidrascu on March 27.
UP NEXT: The Mount is slated to head to Fairfax, Va. to take on George Mason on Sunday, April 6. First serve is set for noon.
