Emmitsburg, Md. (March 16, 2014) -- Despite wins at the top two singles slots, the Mount women's tennis team lost to Robert Morris, 5-2, on Sunday at the Mount Tennis Courts.
The visiting Colonials (1-7) jumped on the Mount (5-7, 0-2 NEC) with two doubles wins to take the point. At No. 1, sisters Kelly and Jennifer Smith, teamed up for a hard-fought 8-7 (7-3) victory over Marie-Sophie Heine and Larissa Kiyoku.
Samantha Pinchoff picked up her second-consecutive No. 1 singles victory on the day, earning a three-set win versus Carolina Mourao Teixeira. Pinchoff won the first set, 6-3, and fell 0-6 in the second set. A 6-3 win in the third set helped Pinchoff pick up the victory.
At No. 2 singles, Liz Rossi claimed a straight-set 7-5, 7-5 win over Heine for the Mount's other point.
Next on the schedule, the Mount is set to host Bucknell on Wednesday, March 19, at 3 p.m.
