Orlando, Fla. (February 27, 2014) – The Mount women's tennis team cruised past Concordia Moorhead on Thursday, sweeping the Cobbers by a final score of 7-0. The Mountaineers were dominant on the day, winning all six singles matches in straight sets.
Beginning with doubles play, the Mount (5-4) handed Concordia (0-8) three losses to earn the doubles point. At No. 1, sisters Kelly Smith and Jennifer Smith picked up an 8-1 victory on Thursday, as did Taylor D'Agostino and Erin Benefiel at No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 duo comprised of seniors Samantha Pinchoff and Liz Rossi was a perfect 8-0 on the day.
The Mount was just as dominant in singles play with six straight-set victories. Four players did not drop a game on the day in Rossi (No. 2), Kelly Smith (No. 3), D'Agostino (No. 4) and Danielle Nguyen (No. 6).
The Mount concludes its spring break trip in Florida with a match versus Davenport tomorrow.
