Mount Women's Tennis Falls at Bethune-Cookman, 6-1

Daytona Beach, Fla. (February 25, 2014) – The Mount women's tennis team ran into a strong Bethune-Cookman squad on Tuesday, falling 6-1 in the third match of the Mount's spring break trip in Florida.

The Mount (4-4) earned its only point on the day at No. 5 singles where freshman Erin Benefiel battled to a three-set victory over Bethune-Cookman's Ancia Ifill. Benefiel dropped the first set, but was able to recover with a 6-2 victory in the second set to force a tiebreaker. In the third set, Benefiel played her way to a 10-6 win to earn the point.

The Wildcats (3-6) were victorious in all three doubles matches and won five singles matches in straight sets.

The Mount now turns its attention to its next opponent Concordia Moorhead. The two sides square off on Feb. 27 in Orlando, Fla.
