Orlando, Fla. (February 24, 2014) – The Mount women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 defeat to Oakland on Monday to fall to 1-1 on the spring break trip in Florida.
The Mount (4-3) dug itself an early 1-0 hole as Horizon League opponent Oakland (2-7) won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The closest match in doubles action was at No. 2 where seniors Samantha Pinchoff and Liz Rossi were dealt an 8-4 defeat by Tamara Blum and Elizabeth Guy.
Oakland won all six singles matches, including five in straight-set fashion. Pinchoff found herself in a battle at No. 1 singles with Karine Celis. After dropping the first set, Pinchoff took the second set, 6-4, before Celis won the third set tiebreaker by a score of 10-7.
On Tuesday, Feb. 25, the Mount takes on Bethune-Cookman at 2 p.m.
