Orlando, Fla. (February 23, 2014) – The Mount women's tennis team took down Webber International on Sunday by a final score of 6-1. The Mount won two out of three doubles matches and five of six singles matches in the first action of the team's spring break trip.
Seniors Samantha Pinchoff and Liz Rossi made quick work of Chandler Reed and Maria Lucas with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles for the Mount (4-2). Playing No. 3 doubles, the duo of Taylor D'Agostino and Erin Benefiel crushed Daniela Melo and Zolboo Batbaatar by the same 8-0 margin to give the Mount the doubles point.
In singles, the Mount won at No. 2-6 to earn the victory. Rossi dropped just one set in a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, while Benefiel (No. 5) and Jenny Smith (No. 6) picked up identical 6-0, 6-0 wins in their matches.
Kelly Smith and D'Agostino also added straight set wins at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, on the day.
On Feb. 24, the Mount takes on Oakland.
