Lewisburg, Pa. (September 21, 2013) – The final day of the Bucknell Invitational included a number of singles and doubles wins for the Mount women's tennis team on Saturday. Senior Liz Rossi won her singles match in dominating fashion to win the consolation bracket of the orange draw.
Rossi cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory in singles play against Bloomsburg's Aida Diop in the consolation finals of her draw. The senior also had a successful day in doubles action with a win alongside freshman Erin Benefiel in their first match in the consolation round. The duo's 8-1 win over Bloomsburg's Diop and Lindsey Tennis advanced them to the consolation finals where they fell short against Samantha Schafer and Linley Busby of Villanova, 8-2.
In the white draw for singles, junior Kelly Smith enjoyed a 6-2, 6-1 win over Bloomsburg's Caitlin Flynn in the consolation round.
Playing an all-Mount consolation doubles match in the south draw, Danielle Nguyen and Taylor D'Agostino took down Kayla Barrett and Isabella Draper, 8-2. Nguyen and Taylor moved on to the consolation finals where the tandem was handed an 8-6 loss to Natalie Greenholt and Nicole Slangle of Bloomsburg.
The Mount will play its first dual match of the fall on Wednesday, Sept. 25, against Shepherd at the Mount Tennis Courts at 3 p.m.
