Emmitsburg, Md. (December 7, 2013)--Rashad Whack scored a game-high 18 points to lead Mount St. Mary's to a 70-58 win over Loyola in the 169th all-time meeting between the two rivals.

Whack led four Mountaineers in double figures as Julian Norfleet chipped in 16 points, Taylor Danaher a career-high 12 points, and Gregory Graves 10 points off the bench.

Dylon Cormier, who entered the game averaging 25 points, led Loyola (5-3) with 13 points while Franz Rassman chipped in 12 in the loss.

Trailing 23-15 with just under five minutes left in the opening half, the Mount rattled off a 15-0 run to take the lead.  Mount St. Mary's forced Loyola into a turnover on five consecutive possessions during the scoring streak.

Norfleet started the run with a pair of free throws, and Graves got the home crowd going with an emphatic dunk on an alley-oop pass from Norfleet after a Khalid Nwandu steal.

Taylor Danaher added a bucket in the paint, and Sam Prescott scored after another Nwandu steal to even the score at 23-23.  Will Miller's jumper from the short corner gave the Mount the lead, and Norfleet capped the run with a traditional three-point play and a nice drive to the basket that gave the Mount (3-7) a 30-23 advantage with 1:00 left in the half.

The Mount eventually went to the locker room with a 32-27 lead.  Mount St. Mary's scored 15 points off 12 Loyola turnovers in the opening half, while holding the Greyhounds to 35.7 percent shooting in the opening frame.

The Mount was able to pull away from there, holding the Greyhounds without a field goal for nearly 10 minutes to take control of the game.  The Mount led by as many as 16 points in the second half before capturing the 12-point win.

The Mount snapped a three-game losing streak against the Greyhounds and now hold a 97-72 lead in the all-time series that began in 1910.
