Towson, Md. (October 2, 2013) – Despite a team-leading fifth doubles win by No. 1 duo Kelly Smith and Jennifer Smith, the Mount women's tennis team dropped the doubles point and six singles matches in a 7-0 defeat on the road against Towson on Wednesday afternoon.

For the Mount (1-1), the Smith sisters came away with an 8-7 (6-3) victory at No. 1 doubles over Nani Lizana and Ariel Burke of Towson (1-0). The Smiths improve their record to 5-3 on the season, including a 2-0 mark playing No. 1 doubles in dual matches.

For the Mountaineers, the doubles win turned out to be the only victory on the day as the Tigers claimed wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles for a 1-0 advantage heading to singles.

Towson overmatched the Mount in singles play with all six matches being decided in straight sets.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, the Mount heads to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on La Salle at 2 p.m. 

NOTE: The Mount falls to 9-14 in the all-time series versus Towson.
