Mount St. Mary's Loses at Western Michigan

Kalamazoo, Mich. (December 22, 2012)—Mount St. Mary's lost at Western Michigan, 87-66, on Saturday afternoon.  Rashad Whack paced the Mountaineers with 16 points in the loss.

The Broncos used a 10-0 run late in the first half to take a double-digit advantage, and were able to keep the margin above 10 points the rest of the way.

Western Michigan (8-4) took the early lead with a 9-2 run before the Mount (4-6) responded with a 9-4 run of its own to cut the deficit to 13-12.  Later in the half, Julian Norfleet hit a three-pointer to cut Western Michigan's lead to 27-21, but the Broncos answered with a 10-0 spurt for a 16-point advantage.

Whack led the Mount with 16 points while Norfleet (14), Sam Prescott (14) and Raven Barber (10) also scored in double figures in the loss.  Western Michigan was led by Shayne Whittington's 24 points with Darius Paul chipping in 19.

The Mount shot 40 percent from the field in the game, including just 9-of-31 (.290) from three-point range.  Western Michigan held a 40-to-21 edge on the boards while shooting 60.4 percent overall.

 The Mount returns to action on Saturday, December 29, when UMBC visits Knott Arena for a 2:00 p.m. game.
