EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Devin O'Grady (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) led four Mount St. Mary's men's golfers in the Top-5 with a second-place standing to pace the Mount to first place after the first round of the ECAC Championships on Friday.
O'Grady shot a 71 to rank second after the first round, one stroke behind the current leader.
Kevin Ellison (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt), Tonny Aizpun (Barcelona, Spain/Lycee Francais De Barcelone) and Danny Michalek (Mount Airy, Md./Mount St. Joseph) all finished two strokes behind O'Grady in fifth place to help the Mountaineers shoot a 290 in the first round to go into the final round with a one stroke lead against Saint Peter's. Ryan Triller (Street, Md./North Harford) (13th place, 77) also competed for the Mount.
Mount St. Mary's paces the nine-team field while Saint Peter's (291), Siena (308), Monmouth (308) and Fairfield round out the Top-5 teams. The Mount finished second in the event last season.
The Mountaineers return to action looking for their first title since the Mount St. Mary's Fall Invitational on Oct. 20, 2007 in the final round of the ECAC Championships on Sunday. The Mount will be paired once again with Saint Peter's and Siena and will tee off starting at 11 a.m. in 10 minute intervals.
