Women's Tennis Edged by Wayne State; Men's Team Also Falls

Orlando, Fla. (March 11, 2011)--The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team was edged by Wayne State, 4-3, on Friday afternoon in their final match in Florida. The Mount's men's team lost to Wayne State, 5-2.

The Mount's Emma Haley and Carly Landini posted an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles, but Wayne State earned wins at the first two doubles spots to earn the doubles point.

In singles play, Haley won in straight sets at No. 4 singles while Liz Rossi won in straight sets at the No. 6 position. Renee Deane lost a heart-breaker at No. 5 singles, 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 7-6 (8-6) to Debora Correa. Deane was unable to convert on six match points.

The men's team lost 5-2 despite wins from Mike Salomon (No. 2) and Mike Zabetakis (No. 3).
