Daytona Beach, Fla. (March 10, 2011)--The
Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team defeated Bethune-Cookman, 5-2,
in a non-conference matchup on Thursday afternoon.
The Mount (7-4) captured two of three
doubles matches to grab an early 1-0 lead in the match. Samantha
Pinchoff and Kelly
Conroy were 9-7 winners over Andrea Paez and Sereena
Peterson-Paul at the No. 2 position while Carly
Landini and Emma
Haley were 8-3 victors at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Conroy's 6-4, 6-2 win
over Stacey Lopez at No. 3 singles clinched the match. Landini won
in straight sets over Nancy Gonzales at No. 4 singles. Haley was a
6-3, 6-0 winner at No. 5 singles with Renee
Deane capturing a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 6 spot in the
lineup.
The Mount concludes its spring trip to
Florida tomorrow against Wayne State.
