Women's Tennis Goes 1-2 at George Mason Invitational

Fairfax, Va. (September 25, 2010)--The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team went 1-2 in three matches at the George Mason 3/2 Invitational on Saturday.

The Mount fell to host George Mason by the score of 5-0 in the format that featured three singles matches and a pair of doubles matches. In singles play, Emily Bolchoz lost to Alison Wingo, 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Brooke Blackwell downed Carly Landini, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 2 while Aryn Christian defeated Renee Deane, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 3 singles. In doubles, Kiersten Pappas and Lindsey Gray defeated Samantha Pinchoff and Kelly Conroy, 6-1, 7-6, at No. 1 while Ashley Delaney and Kate Desiatnikova downed Emma Haley and Liz Rossi, 6-4, 6-3.

Mount St. Mary's swept Virginia State, 5-0, in the second match of the day. Pinchoff won 2-1, def., over Amanda Spencer at No. 1 singles while Conroy cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Keshia Holmes at No. 2. Haley had a 6-0, 6-1 win over Tamilla Hicks at the No. 3 spot. In doubles, Bolchoz and Deane teamed for a 6-3, 6-0 wn over LaKevia Ingram and Alex McCray at No. 1 while Landini and Rosse swept past Jessika Williams and Valencia Williams, 6-0, 6-0.

The Mount was edged by George Washington, 3-2, in the final match. In singles, Pinchoff edged Doreta Lysieniov, 7-6 (9-7), 4-6, 10-6, at the No. 2 singles position. Conroy had an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over Sarah Smyth at the No. 3 position while Bolchoz was defeated, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 by Mimi Hamling. In doubles, Leah Pascarella and Julia Blakeley defeated Landini and Haley, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 while Zoe Krohn and Meg Tynen edged Deane and Rossi, 2-6, 6-2, 11-9, at No. 3.
