The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team posted a 7-2 win at
Shepherd on Tuesday afternoon. The Mount won five of the six
singles matches to seal the victory.
In doubles play, the Mount took a 2-1 lead in the match by
winning at No. 1 and No. 3 singles. The teams played the Division
II scoring rules, meaning all three doubles matches counted as
individual points.
At No. 1 doubles, the Mount's Emily
Bolchoz and Renee
Deane cruised to an 8-2 win over Brittany BOlster and Christina
Hammond. The Mount's No. 3 tandem of Kelly
Conroy and Samantha
Pinchoff earned an 8-0 win over Lindy Ybarra and Megan
Clark.
In singles play, Bolchoz won 7-5, 6-2 over Bolster at the No. 1
singles spot. Pinchoff earned a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles over
Brittany Moreland while Conroy downed Hammond in straight sets,
6-2, 6-1. Emma
Haley rolled past Ybarra, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5 singles while
Deane had an easy 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles over Clark.
The Mount returns to action on Saturday at the George Mason 3/2
Invitational.
