CHAMPIONSGATE, Fla. - Autumn Serruta (Avon, Conn./Avon) finished
19th to lead the Mount St. Mary's women's golf team to a
seventh-place standing at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's
Golf Championships on Sunday.
Serruta improved each round at the championships, posting an 88
in the first round, an 85 in the second round and then an 83 in the
final round. The senior finished with a three-round score of 256,
30 strokes behind the medalist and two strokes from earning a flag.
Serruta's score of 256 was the fourth-best for a Mount player at
the championships in program history.
Christina Koerper (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Mount St. Joseph
Academy) (23rd place, 259), Sarah Roe (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral
Park Memorial) (28th place, 262) and Christina Hall (Wall,
N.J./Wall) (39th place, 276) also participated for the Mount.
Koerper''s 259 is the six-best score at the championships while Roe
carded an 80 in the final round for the third-best single round and
her 262 was the sixth-best score in team history at the
championships. Megan Corbett (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) competed in
two of the three rounds at the NEC Championships.
Fairleigh Dickinson rallied from nine strokes down to earn the
title with a score of 964, three strokes ahead of Long Island (967)
while Robert Morris (975), Sacred Heart (977), Saint Francis (Pa.)
(1022), Central Connecticut State (1025), the Mount (1051),
Monmouth (1051), Wagner (1075) and St. Francis (N.Y.) (1117)
rounded out the 10-team field.
The Mountaineers carded a 351, a 360 and a 340 in the three
rounds for its score of 1051. The 340 in the final round was the
fourth-best score at the tournament for Mount St. Mary's and the
351 in the first round was the eight-best mark in program history
at the championships.
